Mahogany Table

Specifications

Measurements: 43”w x 130”l x 30”h
Material: African Mahogany

Project Description

This trestle table is made of 100” mahogany. The length was determined by the two slabs that we had to work with for the top. The top is a full 2” thick. The edges of the table top show off the marks from the sawmill, and provide both a visual detail as well as something that you want to touch. The curves on the legs were made with 15 layers of mahogany pressed in a vacuum form. The client started with three inspiration photos to show what they were looking for. From there a computer rendering was done and tweaked to arrive at this design.

Reclaimed Wood Table

Specifications

Measurements: 120”l x 50”s x 30”h, extends to 162” long
Material: Reclaimed Douglas Fir floor joists with Maple Base

Project Description

What started out as an effort to use floor joists from the client’s old home became something much bigger.  To get the size the client wanted.  This table is huge at 10 feet long by over 4 feet wide.  It has two extensions that come out from both ends, bringing the total length to almost 14 feet long.  Working closely with the client and their designer we arrived at a black base, which is solid maple.  The finish is clear satin lacquer.

Walnut Extension Table and Chairs

Specifications

Measurements: 60”high x 87”wide x 90”long
Material: Maple

Project Description

This King bed has four large drawers mounted underneath for plenty of storage. The design was a collaboration with the client, based on several inspiration photos. Note the consistent grain in the veneers on the sides and footboard. The drawers run on high quality soft-close slides hidden under the drawers, and show off dovetailed joinery on all corners. The client provided input on every detail from height of the sides, to the position of the bottom of the upholstery relative to the mattress. Custom is as custom as you want to make it!

Maple Counter Stools

Project Description

The client’s new home has a breakfast bar at the counter, but with the open concept of the home, they needed three counter-height chairs to match the dining chairs. We were provided with one chair and a height specification and created three stools that go perfectly with the existing chairs. You can see the dining chairs in the background. Upholstery was done in house, with fabric provided by the client.

Walnut and Steel Dining Table

The table is counter height so it can be used as an additional prep surface in the kitchen that was too narrow to accommodate an island. The base is solid walnut, with mortise and tenon joinery. The tenons are pinned with square ebony pins.   The chairs are solid walnut with an upholstered seat. The tops of the legs are exposed with a shallow pyramid detail. All joinery is mortise and tenon, with the tenons pinned with square ebony pins, the same detail as found on the table.

3-Piece Buffet Set

Specifications

Wood Type: Walnut, Walnut Veneer
Measurements: 7′ long overall x 16″d x 37″
Made In: Ottawa, Ontario
Status: Sold

Project Description

This buffet in three parts was the initial design of the clients.  Working from that intial design, together we worked out this final product.  The two end cabinets have textured glass doors and glass shelves.

The centre unit shows off carefully matched veneers, including a drawer-front that is veneered to match the two doors beneath.

The finish is a 6-coat oil and varnish process that includes wet-sanding to provide a soft surface that you can’t help but touch.
